Lamyanba Irawat Memorial Integrated Trust (LIMIT) in collaboration with Khurai Konsam Leikai Khurai Nupi Lup organized a one-day "Anti Drug Campaign Awareness Program" entitled "Ereichasing Mikap Thoklasi" today at Khurai Konsam Leikai Community Hall Ipum Mapal, Imphal East, Manipur.
The awareness program had discussions on how a drug user should be treated, and put under medication. The program also elaborated on the merit and demerit of opioid substitution therapy (OST) given to injecting drug users.
Thokchom Ramani Leima, President-Nupi Samaj, Lourembam Nganbi, President-AMKIL, Yumlembam Memma Leima, President- NLANL Imphal East, RK Tiken, Secretary - SASO, Geetchandra Mangang, General Secretary - CADA, and Ngangkham Prabhapati, President - Khurai Konsam Leikai Khunai Kanba Nupi Lup graced the awareness program as the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Yumlembam Memma Leima, President- NLANL Imphal East, said that the main reason why drug addiction is difficult to put under control is that mothers often hide the bad habits of their children for the fear of public mocking and dignity of the family. She continued that mothers should sniff their children when returning home after a party or an outing, and this will prove a great help to put drug addictions.
Around 150 locals attended the awareness program on Anti- Drug Campaign.
